First Home Buyers jumping in to buy

Encouraged by improved affordability, lower interest rates and the increased federal government first home buyers grant, lending to first home buyers surged in January 2009.

Mortgage sales to first home buyers rose 25.8% in the month, from 21.2% in December 2008.
