Fixed rate home loans gaining popularity

The proportion of borrowers choosing fixed rate home loans has risen to more than 10 percent, according to AFG. While AFG reports that the total number of mortgage loans sold in 2010 was down 10 percent, the proportion of fixed rate home loans went up.

According to figures from AFG, fixed-rate home loans made up only 2 percent of all mortgages in December 2009. As of last month, this figure had risen to 12.6 percent.
