According to The Real Estate Institute of Queensland, there was significant growth in the total value of investment purpose home loans between April and October 2009. The Real Estate Institute of Queensland expects this trend to continue.

REIQ managing director Dan Molloy says Queensland's population is growing by about 1,500 people per week creating an ongoing housing shortage which means investors are likely to drive the market forward in the first part of 2010.

"We are simply not building enough homes for everyone that wants to live here," says Molloy.
