ANZ reviews penalty fees

ANZ Bank will announce big changes to its penalty fee structure in the next few weeks, following changes by the other big banks to their penalty fees.

ANZ chief executive Mike Smith said "What we're doing is a complete revamp of our complete fee structure and some fees will be dropped and other fees will be increased."

NAB has scrapped its $30 penalty fees for overdrawn accounts. Westpac cut all its penalty fees on credit cards and personal and business accounts to $9 from current levels of up to $45. Commonwealth announced that penalty fees will be cut to $5 from $35 on business and personal accounts and overdraft fees would be reduced from $30 to $10 on business and personal transaction accounts.
