Australia 'most popular for working abroad'

Demand for homes in Australia may increase as a result of a widespread desire of Britons to work abroad, new research has suggested. A survey by money exchange firm Foreign Currency Direct has found that 23% of people survey were thinking of applying for a job overseas in the next two years. This equates to 11 million of Britain's working population.

The survey also found that Australia was the most popular destination as the country of choice for 20 per cent of respondents. The US was second on 16 per cent, while Spain was the top European choice on seven per cent.

One reason many may go through with plans to go to Australia is the country's relatively strong economic prospects. Minutes of the monetary policy meeting of the board of the Reserve Bank of Australia noted that the country's main trading partner zone in Asia has been seeing the strongest economic growth. It also commented that the last month's domestic indicators had been "mostly positive".
