The UK housing market improved last month, with home values increasing for the first time in 20 months.

Across Britain, the number of respondents that said prices dropped exceeded those reporting gains by 18.1 percentage points. This was the highest reading since September 2007, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RCIS) said in its monthly survey.

According to the RCIS, the majority of surveyors now expect property prices to increase for the first time since May 2007.
